Terms of Service

Last updated October 25, 2026

The short version: be kind, keep your camera appropriate, never record other people, and respect the room. The details below cover accounts, your content, and what happens if things go wrong.

01Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Nikhil Pawar, which operates FocusFellows. By creating an account or joining a room — including as a guest — you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use FocusFellows.

02Who can use FocusFellows

You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age required in your country) to create an account. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission. You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity on your account.

03Room rules

Rooms are for quiet, focused study. Cameras are on and microphones start muted. In every room you agree to:

  • Keep your camera appropriate — no nudity, sexual content, violence or anything you wouldn't show in a library.
  • Treat others with respect. No harassment, hate speech, threats, bullying or unwanted contact.
  • Never record, screenshot or stream other people without their clear permission.
  • Not share other people's personal information.
  • Not spam chat, advertise, or impersonate anyone.
  • Follow the room's own rules and the host's and moderators' reasonable instructions.

Hosts and moderators can mute or remove participants. Removal may block you from that room. Anyone can use Report on a participant; we review reports and may take action on any account.

04Your content

You own what you post — profile details, posts, comments and messages. You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store, display and transmit it only as needed to run FocusFellows (for example, showing your post in the feed or your video to people in your room). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies others have already received (such as a direct message) or that we must keep for safety or legal reasons. You're responsible for having the right to share what you post.

05Acceptable use

  • Don't break the law or help others do so.
  • Don't try to access accounts, data or parts of the service you're not allowed to.
  • Don't scrape, overload or disrupt the service, or get around its limits.
  • Don't upload malware or use bots to interact with other people.

06Price

FocusFellows is free to use, with no daily time limit and no paid plans. If we introduce paid plans later, we'll update these terms and tell you in the app before anything changes.

07Suspension and termination

You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Data. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms or puts others at risk, and we'll explain why where it's safe and lawful to do so. If you think we made a mistake, contact us.

08Third-party services

FocusFellows relies on providers such as Supabase, LiveKit, and lets you sign in with Google or Apple. Their own terms apply to your use of their services. We aren't responsible for third-party sites that people link to.

09Disclaimers

FocusFellows is provided “as is”. We work hard to keep it running, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that study statistics will be perfectly accurate. People in rooms are other users, not our staff, and we don't endorse what they say or show. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.

10Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Nikhil Pawar is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or opportunity. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD 50. These limits don't apply to liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud or gross negligence.

11Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes will be handled by its courts, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.

12Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as FocusFellows evolves. For material changes, we'll notify you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use FocusFellows afterwards means you accept the updated terms.
